It is a Nice Day and fall is in the Air
Here in Coffee Springs we have good weather now, and it seems that fall is in the air a little bit. The leaves are falling from the pecan trees in the yard.
I am thankful that my eye is better and the laser surgery seems to have been effective. It is quite depressing when you have a serious problem with an eye. It is hard to do many of the activities that are so much pleasure in life without using your eyes.
Today I went and looked at that springs that gives Coffee Springs its name. It is a pretty and peaceful place and lots of cool water is boiling out of the ground. Makes me pause and think about all those many years that the water has been boiling out of the ground for years even before General Coffee made his camp here. I could picture some hot and tired Indian stopping to get a drink of water there. Some things make one pause and contemplate what is more lasting than he is.
Frankie called me from the Coffee Springs Senior Citizen’s Center and told me that they were having a singer and Elvis impersonator named Bill Brooks. He is from Tupelo, Mississippi. He had a program for about an hour and he was very good. He sounds very much like Elvis. One especially good song that I enjoyed was, “Peace in the Valley.” I very much enjoyed his show. He is going to be at Big Jack’s Restaurant tonight. We are planning to go up there and hear him and have supper.
